Prowess Financial Services was founded by Nakiaya Dunn in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2018. It began as a way to introduce family and friends the importance of knowing tax laws and regulations. Dunn had no intentions of someday offering a complete brand of accounting services. Since then, Prowess has grown from more than just a tax preparation service. Prowess now offers tax planning and preparation, representation before the IRS, bookkeeping for businesses, cost management accounting, financial planning, and credit consulting.

Meet The CEO
Nakiaya Dunn, Founder & CEO
Nakiaya Dunn, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a 30 year old entrepreneur. Dunn graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University in December of 2015. She worked multiple jobs during her college tenure. Dunn gained three years of experience in the accounting field simultaneous to obtaining her degree. The mandatory tax classes required in accounting opened the door for Nakiaya’s business plan. She invested in the self-paced study materials and earned her designation as an Enrolled Agent in May of 2018. But she didn’t stop there. She officially opened the doors of Prowess Financial Services and wanted to offer more than just tax preparation and representation services. Dunn began studying bookkeeping and different software available, finally settling on becoming certified Pro-Advisor in QuickBooks Online in May of 2020. Growing from only about 5-7 tax returns a year to many tax and bookkeeping clients in different states, Dunn is very proud of the growth of Prowess. She is not even close to being finished !
